Have a Party

It seems to be getting tougher these days to find friends and family who are willing to help you move (especially with apartment buildings getting taller and taller as architects go crazy with design and land space becomes more scarce), so instead of trying to rally a team to help you with the physical movement of your belongings you might consider getting some help at the front and back end only (where no heavy lifting is required). Yep, contract out the physical movement of boxes and furniture (the “heavy lifting” so to speak), but surround yourself with help from friends and family when it comes to the packing and unpacking phases; and the best way to get them to buy in to wanting to help you is through the promise of fun. Make it a Mini-Vacation

A lot of times when people envision an interstate move the only thing they see are the hassles of coordinating the move you know, the packing, the cleaning, and all the other blissful routines associated with the change in lifestyle. But what about the notion that the move may open an opportunity to take a few days of vacation en route to your new destination? You bet this is the perfect time to take a side detour or two as you drive across the country, especially if you are having your personal belongings professionally moved by a moving and storage company since you are less encumbered than probably any other time in the recent past. If you know you’ll want to take a few extra days to stop by that resort town or other exciting destination, all you need to do is let your moving company know so they can coordinate the time logistically when it comes to their own route planning. Moves are typically stressful and a lot of times they are as a result of changed jobs or other increased responsibilities. What better way to start that new chapter in your life than with a mini-vacation en route to assure that you arrive rested and fully capable to handle the new challenges that will be in your lap sooner than you know it.
