Moving is a hectic process. Amidst contracts and switching bills, it’s easy to forget the simple things. In order to make the process less hectic, we’ve combined a list of moving tips. So stop pulling out your hair, grab a hot coffee or tea, and read on.Don’t leave it until last minuteWhile this tip is a little obvious, it’s easy to say “oh, I’ll start packing tomorrow.” Next thing you know, it is moving day and nothing is done. If you’re facing a jam packed schedule, pack one box a day leading up to the move. It may not make a large dent, but it will leave less for moving day.Find a system that works for youPutting dishes in with the bed sheets may work for some, but gets confusing for others. What if you forget what box the cookware is in? And as far as the paperwork goes, it’s hard to keep track of what needs to get done. With so much happening during a move, the most important thing is to develop a system. For example, you could pack items by function (cooking, sleeping, bathing, etc). And how about assigning paperwork to certain days (Tuesday is electric, Wednesday is water)? By deciding on a direction before you move, your tasks will fall into place like a check list- check- and done!Taking care of pets and kidsYou love your children and pets, but on moving day, it can be hard to pack and keep up with them. See if a friend will watch your pet for the day, or check him or her into doggie care. As far as children go, see if grandma and grandpa would be willing to babysit. If not, maybe you could keep them occupied with a coloring book and crayons.
